What Is Work?

Workshop
Wednesday, November 6

18h-20h
Romanian Institute

What Work Is? is the question asked by the Romanian Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale, which features paintings of Serban Savu that pay attention to workers and to moments of respite from work, while also bringing to visibility, at the New Gallery of the Romanian Institute, the handywork of the mosaic makers who are behind a well-known yet less-discussed genre of public art. The workshop aims to bring to centerstage the lifestories of migrant workers, as a process of solidarity-building and learning, challenging the migrant/native political divide by looking at the transnational processes involved, and at the mutual constitution of the European, national and local identities and agencies. Hosted and Coordinated by Ovidiu Ţichindeleanu.
