Lagoon Procession – Unknown Waters

Public walk
Sunday, November 10

16h – 17h30
Meeting Point: CREA

As part of the Transeuropa Festival, Cinema Galleggiante – Acque Sconosciute presents a floating concert on rowing boats. Rowers, musicians, and the audience will come together for a procession that will set sail from the CREA Boatyard, navigating the southern lagoon towards the island of San Clemente—formerly home to one of Venice’s psychiatric hospitals—in a journey of approximately 45 minutes. The procession pays tribute to Franco Basaglia (1924-1980) and Franca Ongaro (1928-2005) on the centenary of the Venetian psychiatrist’s birth and celebrates the unknown and the unpredictable. As the lagoon’s waters are crossed, participants collectively embark on a physical, emotional, and imaginative journey.

The journey will then stop on the floating platform to the participants to enjoy a contemporary music concert.

Upon reaching the shore, TOCIA! Cucina e Comunità will welcome participants with a roasted pumpkin cart, inspired by the street food traditions documented in the film Vele chioggiotte (1951) by Ubaldo Magnaghi, which will be screened within the CREA Cantieri del Contemporaneo.

Meeting @CREA (211/B,30133, Sestiere Dorsoduro, 30123 Venezia VE) at 15h. Subject to change of plans in case of bad weather.

Cinema Galleggiante – Acque Sconosciute is a project curated by Edoardo Aruta, Alessandra Messali, and Paolo Rosso, and presented by Microclima.
