Helen Belcher

Helen heads up TransActual, the UK’s biggest trans-led trans advocacy organisation. She is responsible for TransActual’s policy and parliamentary work. She has been a prominent campaigner for the rights of trans and non-binary people for nearly 15 years, and received a national honour (an OBE) from the King at the end of 2022. She has stood for the UK Parliament 3 times, and is currently a local authority councillor where she lives in Wiltshire, responsible for the council’s assets and business growth. She is a substitute member of the Congress of Europe, and has been on the US Government’s IVLP programme (before Trump). She used to own and run her own software company, after many years in management and IT. She is known as a powerful public speaker and strategist, who writes for newspapers and appears on national television and radio. She has been married for over 30 years, and likes to travel in her free time.
