Re-indigenizing the Future: Imagining Beyond the Anthropocene

Hyper-individualism and techno-humanist imaginaries have intensified a global race toward futures defined by Euro-Western ideas of progress, human mastery and technological transcendence, raising questions about whose values shape the worlds we are building. How might we imagine a future in which modernity is no longer the unquestioned horizon of human development? Where we move beyond euro-patriarchal knowledge systems? A future grounded in the idea of the world as a living soul?
To reach this starting point, we will experiment with resetting our imagination and reclaiming it as a tool for decolonization. Colours and play shall guide us there, where we meet our childlike being. Drawing on a theosophical understanding of colour as a language of the universe and a tool for transcendence, we will paint and build a world through a relational, Indigenous lens.
Our common ground is nature, everything else is newly thought, newly build. Beginning with individual reflection, the workshop will unfold into collaborative artistic practice and speculative world-building. Together, we will explore earth, rivers, oceans, volcanoes, and clouds as landscapes of the soul and ask: What if clouds are just another soil of our future? What are we willing to change, give up, or create to make another future possible?
