  • Kids 4-6/ Sunday 14:30-15:30 The Rolling Sky: An Emakimono Cloud Adventure 

Discover the magic of the skies in this sensory storytelling performance and interactive workshop for preschoolers! Children will watch a Japanese emakimono picture scroll unroll to reveal ancient cloud folklore, helping the story come alive with wind sounds and movement. Afterward, little hands will use simple material to craft their own rolling panoramas and unleash their imagination.

Participants: Up to 20 children.

  • Teens 13-17/ Sunday 15.30-17:30/18 Cloudcuckooland: The Bird Revolt

Tired of human rules? Escape to the skies in this fast-paced, funny tabletop RPG based on Aristophanes’ classic comedy. Play as radical birds, build a utopian sky-city, and use sharp satire to outsmart greedy politicians and starving gods.  With a super-simple dice system, teamwork and comedy are your only weapons to create the perfect society!

Participants: Up to 20 children.

Flotillas as a tool for Resistance

Panel debates & assemblies. With Louna Sbou, Magdalena Górska, Sozita Goudouna, Rihab Charida.

A circle discussion on transnational strategies of resistance & solidarity based on the learnings from the Flotillas. 

In a festival on air and clouds, and their capacity to travel across borders and interrelate us all, we now turn to a transnational movement with similar characteristics: one that in the name of solidarity, humanitarian aid, and resistance against complicity, like air – transgressed borders and united many. From air and clouds thickening up and transforming themselves in water, we arrive to the Mediterranean, both the stage and the medium for this movement. 

The discussion will reflect on the experiences and lessons of the Flotillas movement, and how to continue being solidable to Palestine.

The Sky is the Limit. Reading circle and banner-making workshop

For millennia, the sky has been a site of guidance and wonder. Yet today, this same expanse is inscribed with histories of domination: from the language of “colonizing Mars” and extractive visions of outer space, to satellite networks, drone corridors, militarized borders, surveillance, and the accumulation of debris in Earth’s orbit.

The Sky Has Limits is a reading circle and collective textile-making workshop that explores the sky as both a shared commons and a contested political space.

The finished textiles will accompany us to the kite flying, becoming part of the gathering in the air.

The sky becomes a reminder that it is not free, that we are not free. Yet in our longing, we reach toward a sky that can still inspire wonder.

NUA is a project by artist Benedetta Panisson, supported by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture under the Italian Council programme (2026).
The project is led by That’s Contemporary, in partnership with Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and European Alternatives, and in collaboration with Ocean Space / TBA21–Academy, Durham University, L’Appartement 22, D6: Culture in Transit and MART – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto.
