CROSSING BORDERS: Migration, LGBTQI+ Identity and Belonging

Crossing Borders is a participatory art and psychology workshop exploring the visible and invisible borders that shape our experiences of identity, migration and belonging. For LGBTQI+ migrants and people with cross-cultural experiences, borders can be geographical, cultural, social, familial or internal.

Led by a psychologist and an artist, the 2 hours workshop combines guided reflection with creative expression. Participants are invited to consider the borders they have crossed, the things they have carried or left behind, the boundaries that protect or restrict them, and what belonging means to them.

Through drawing, collage, writing, symbols and other artistic methods, participants create personal representations of borders and journeys. These individual works then become part of a collective artistic process, transforming separate experiences into a shared exploration of connection, movement and belonging.

The workshop is not psychotherapy, but a supportive space for expression, reflection and collective creation. No artistic experience is required.

The process culminates in a collective artwork reflecting diverse experiences of crossing borders and imagining what might exist beyond them.
