OPEN CALL : Feminist & Queer Performance Night × Red Jasper Cabaret Theatre
OPEN CALL : Feminist & Queer Performance Night by TRANSEUROPA Festival × Red Jasper Cabaret Theatre
TRANSEUROPA festival is looking for 4 performance artists to join the program on Friday the 9th of October in Athens.
TRANSEUROPA is a transnational cultural-artistic-political festival by European Alternatives running since 2007. The 2026 edition, Reclaiming the Cloud(s), invites us to rethink air, digital space, and the commons as shared territories beyond borders.
Air carries voices across borders. It carries breath, memory, resistance, and contagion. It reminds us that nothing exists in isolation – that our bodies, technologies, ecologies, and futures are radically interconnected.
In a time marked by ecological crisis, misinformation, and increasingly securitised physical and digital frontiers, the festival explores how collective action, artistic practice, and transnational solidarity can reclaim these spaces and foster new forms of care, resistance, and collective imagination.
For one evening, TRANSEUROPA and Red Jasper Cabaret Theatre invite feminist queer performance art to take over the festival programmation.
We are looking for four performances of 20–30 minutes that resonate with the themes of this year’s festival and engage with feminist and queer imaginaries. We welcome works that explore, among others:
- Cyberfeminism, post-humanism and becoming-cyborg; feminist encounters with technology, AI, networks, digital commons, surveillance, and resistance.
- Feminist ghosts; the night will take place following a workshop exploring feminist archival ghosts, we encourage pieces which would intend to carry on this theme.
- Queer ecologies; more-than-human kinships, interdependence, environmental justice, and trans-species solidarities.
- Migration & transnational solidarities; artistic responses to the politics of migration, citizenship, and the right to move and breathe across borders.
We also encourage proposals that respond more broadly to the festival’s themes of commons, migration, democracy, anti-fascism, collective care, transnational organising, ecological futures, and the politics of air, land, water, and digital space.
TRANSEUROPA has always been a space where artistic practice meets political imagination. We are interested in performances that challenge dominant narratives, create spaces of encounter, and imagine feminist, anti-racist, queer, ecological, and democratic futures together.
