A city for whom? Touristification and privatisation in Athens: Comparison with other European cities

Who gets to live in, use and shape European cities?
From short-term rentals and rising housing costs to smart-city development and the privatisation of public space, this debate explores how tourism and new urban models are transforming everyday life in Athens and beyond.

The conversation brings together Dimitra Siatitsa, Eniko Vincze, Nikolaos Vrantsis and Maria Peteinaki, offering different perspectives on housing, urban transformation, tourism and the politics of who gets to inhabit and shape our cities. Together, they will reflect on Athens alongside experiences from other European cities, asking what forms of resistance, regulation and collective action can help keep cities liveable for their residents.
